How to check a power tool charger for a US outlet

Battery fit and wall-outlet suitability are different checks. Read the AC input rating printed on the individual charger before plugging in an imported unit.

Independent reference. ToolBattery is not a manufacturer or authorized service center. Model revision, region, condition and the latest manual may change the answer. Do not use an unapproved adapter or modified battery.

Find the AC input line

The charger label, not the battery voltage, tells you which mains supply the charger accepts. Read its voltage, frequency and plug details. Never infer US compatibility from a model name that is also sold in another country.

Keep the battery check separate

A DC18RC can be listed for BL1850B in a Makita catalog while a particular imported DC18RC unit still needs its own AC-input check. Likewise, DCB118 battery support does not establish the rating of a unit whose regional variant is unknown.

Use the maker’s local instructions

If the label is damaged or the supply range is unclear, use the US manual or manufacturer support for the exact unit. Do not use a plug adapter as proof that the charger electronics support the supply.
