Why some cordless tools need two battery packs

A two-pack tool can accept a battery model yet still be unable to run with just one pack. Count and platform are separate requirements.

Independent reference. ToolBattery is not a manufacturer or authorized service center. Model revision, region, condition and the latest manual may change the answer. Do not use an unapproved adapter or modified battery.

Recognize the X2 label

Makita identifies XSR01Z as a 36V (18V X2) LXT saw. It uses two 18V LXT batteries. The model page also specifies Star-symbol battery support and says the tool-only package omits batteries and a charger.

Check the complete set

If you own one BL1850B, you have only part of the required set for this saw. The checker reports a conditional battery-to-tool result and explicitly shows the required count. It does not reinterpret one pack as a fully working configuration.

Follow the product manual

Check the saw manual for pair selection, battery condition and charging instructions. Do not mix unverified pack types or modify a tool to bypass a battery bay.
